El Farol in Midvale

My wife and I have been coming to El Farol since we were both kids. Over 38+ years! It is the BEAT Mexican food around. Lolita and Roberto make the experience enjoyable! Oh and Anna, she is our favorite server. If you want the BEAT MEXICAN FOOD, go visit Lolita at El Farol!

This place has great food and amazing staff! Not to mention affordable and family friendly.

I've been eating there for 45 years plus. I read about the people that say they don't like there food , for this reason or another. They need to quit eating at taco bell ! It's is the best authentic Mexican food around! Roberto is awesome and the bean dip and cheese chips kick butt! I hope the haters don't go!more for me 👍👍

Service was great! Food - just ok. Won't be going back. No spice at all. Tried shredded beef and chicken dishes. Chips were excellent. Salsa warm, but nothing special. Nothing that a fast food Mexican place couldn't beat for less $$. We really wanted to like this place.

This restaurant has very good authentic Mexican food. I had two cheese enchiladas and they were very good. Their chips and salsa are delicious. They are decently priced and the staff are very friendly. I would recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely amazing, the food was excellent, the service despite short handed staff was quick. I had the carne asada tacos which were well seasoned and tender. The sofapilla dessert was to die for.

Different flavors than most, but good. Salsa was watery but really tasty, chips were fresh and hot. We had cheese enchiladas, tomatillo chicken enchiladas, and tamales. The enchiladas were ok, but the cheese they use ruined it. They would be amazing if they used good cheese, however, especially with the tomatillo sauce. Tamales we're about average.

Ordered food through door dash. The food was terrible and to top it all off it had a short curly thin hair made into one of the Chile verde burritos. The enchilda was super tiny. Needless to say I am very unsatisfied and will never return. I can't tell you what the business establishment itself looks like inside and I never will because I am never eating food from El Farol again. I wish I hadn't this time. On the bright side the door dash person was super pleasant and on time.

Honestly, it wasn't my favorite place ever. The food was satisfactory. It had the "small market" feel which I love in a restaurant, but the meal left something to be desired.

Horrible service. Told the manager about it and she didn't seem to care. I will never go there again. If you want to spend your whole night waiting, this is the place for you!

Best Mexican restaurant in the Salt Lake Valley

This place was awesome, it has a hole in the wall feel but the food was really good. I had a chimichanga with carnitas and it was excellent. Chips came out warm and the salsa is tasty. I love this type of Mexican food. The prices are good and show that they use high quality products.Our server was very attentive and took care of us. She kept our drinks full and everything felt like they wanted to make us happy. I asked for extra cheese and that is exactly what I got. This place does it right!

Delicious food, great service (Alex is the best!), great for families or alone! Lots of food for the price! Close parking, good location. We have eaten here for years and will continue to! We highly recommend it!

The server was nice, though seemed overwhelmed for how not busy it was. The menu was a bit wanting, the pictures weren't particularly appetizing even. Atmosphere lacked and it took a while for someone to seat me. The foods initial taste was fair, the Chile Verde was flavorful. I found some part of the pork that appeared to have a large valve, the photo I have is a little too gross to post on here, looked like an aorta or something. Was way bummed to find it in my burrito, wont return out of fear of that happening again.

El Farol is our staple, we have been eating there since the 60's when it was called El Charro and the Grandpa was there. Their food is always good. Their help has always been friendly and very helpful. I love the place, it is very homey and clean.

Years ago this was my favorite place, but then they started adding cloves to the enchilada sauce.....gross!So it's been many years since our return which was tonight....and sadly it's the worst Mexican food we have ever had.....we did not eat the food....they gave us half our money back!. I honestly was hoping they would have made it like it was when they were on the east side of state....sadly I'll never find out!!!!!!

We've been going here for at least 25 years. It's my family's favorite by far. The 1/2 & 1/2 chip appetizer is always a must for us. The food is always fantastic, the service great and the owners and staff so friendly.

Some of the best home-style Mexican food in the Salt Lake Valley. Crispy corn-tortilla tacos like my mom used to make. El Farol makes my very favorite bean & cheese nachos and ground beef enchiladas. Fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Locally owned!

El Farols Mexican restaurant is definitely my favorite. I’ve been eating here since I was a kid, over 40 years. Lolita & Roberto run a very clean, family oriented & friendly restaurant. The service is always great, Anna is my favorite waitress, she never disappoints & goes the extra mile. The 1/2 & 1/2 bean dip & cheese chips, Mexican plate & chimichanga plates are also my favorites. The food is always so good, made freshly, & warm, including the chips & salsa. I would highly recommend this restaurant, & say that you’re missing out if you haven’t tried it. Some of these lower reviews I’m reading truly surprise me because in over 40 years , I’ve never had a bad experience here. But I guess some people have different tastes for Mexican food than others.. I for one, love this place! Keep up the great job El Farols, can’t wait for my next visit. 🤗

Always great at El Farol!

Mediocre food coupled with high prices and poor service. Interior is well decorated and bright, but the food just isn't worth the trouble. They seem to cater to an older audience which is why there's a disparity of reviews. The salsa tastes like tomato soup, which is ironic because it was served hot (temperature). No hot sauce on the table if that helps describe the blandness. Sad to say but if the choice was between taco Bell or this, I'd go Taco Bell.

I like that it's never busy here. The food is only OK, maybe a bit bland but some people like that. It's a nice place to go if u want a quiet place to hang out with decent food.

Very fast friendly service. I recommend the huge fajita salad.

It good all times I went this week. There had been Communcatipn Problem. BUT GOT IT RELVED. every was good for both parties. Love New Posole on the menu it is good!

Great Mexican food, Great service... Took my daughter and fiance we all loved it. Will be going back!!

Food was not real good and the main gentleman was not very nice. Was there with a huge group of people and my table and the one next to us were not given place settings until asked and the other tables in our group were waited on and given the chips and salsa. After about 30 - 45 minutes someone asked if our two tables could get some because the children at our tables were watching everyone else eating. The salsa was about as plain and boring as one can get. The ground beef in the taco salad was smothered in tomato paste. The server Julio was very nice and helpful. But I will not be returning to this place again nor do I recommend it for a large party of people. I was sick all night after eating the salad and could not go far from the toilet. Good luck if you choose to go there. I wish you better luck than we had.

I totally enjoyed lunch,as always Like new menu,but couldn't help but notice prices are up,again. Been going to ElFarol for 40 plus years. Food is consistently good. Since it was a tiny place east side on state street.

Best Mexican food north of Yuma, Arizona. Delicious food, excellent menue, very fair prices. You will love the deep fried shredded beef tacos. Great friendly service and owner's on site.

el farol is the best mexican food in utah. they have delicious food, salsa, and chips. their soft drinks are always very delicious! i would totally recommend this place if you want good mexican food. if you want to try something really good, i recommend their shredded beef chimichanga! it is so delicious! their rice and beans are incredible! not only do they have amazing food, they have amazing service. everyone is always so friendly and welcoming! i wish i could give this place 10 stars!

This place is amazing! The shredded beef tacos and cheese enchiladas are a must! Their chips and salsa are also the best around. Friendly and quick service and always remember a face.

I like more heat than they use to prepare their entrees.
